Acer Iconia Tab a500 Update Complete

So after downloading a hefty 356MB download, and sitting through the install, my a500 is rocking Honeycomb 3.1.  Some apps have been added: Movie Editor, Google Videos, Nook reader to name a few.

I'll get some more hands on with it tonight and tomorrow and then I'll post up a quick review of the update and a couple of the apps.

nanajee, Acer apparently rolls out the update automatically based on what your Iconia a500's device serial number is. Once it's available a notification will pop up in the lower right notification area (beside the clock). You can choose to download it now or to be reminded later (I would HIGHLY recommend downloading now (since I chose remind me later and had two wait 2 weeks to get it).

The other way, you can manually force the tablet to check for updates by going into the device's Settings menu, find and tap 'About Tablet', and 'Manually Check for Updates'. It'll go and check the servers for any available updates. If it comes back as 'Your tablet is up to date.' than there isn't an update available for you yet.

The last way involves rooting the device and loading Honeycomb 3.2 manually (which is covered at XDA-Developers forums, google it). Note that rooting the device is considered a form of modification and may void any waranties you may have (just has to say that to clear the air).

    Good luck!
