Leonard Nimoy hangs up the Pointed Ears

Spock
This isn't so much a technology bit from news.  But it is rooted in the very heart of geekdom and has been for 45 years.  This year marked the 45th Anniversary of Star Trek.  And with this past weekend's Trek Convention in Chicago he gave an hour long speech about his life and left the crowd with Spock's trademark farewell: "Live Long and Prosper" and the Vulcan hand symbol (you know the four fingers in a 'V' sign).  Meaning he is retiring from appearing at Star Trek conventions.

Mr. Nimoy is 80 years old.  And no doubt he loves his fans.  However, with age we all must step back a little.  I give props to Mr. Nimoy for rocking the Trekdom as long as he has.  You may remember his most recent contribution to the Star Trek involved his appearance in J.J. Abrams take on 'Star Trek' in 2009.  And with his cameo in that movie alone, they created a bridge that will forever link the original series/movies to Abram's take on Star Trek in the series' historical cannon.  Leonard Nimoy previously announced he wouldn't be making anymore Spock appearance in future Trek films.
