Rage is coming...Why is it significant?

Tomorrow we will see the release of 'Rage' by id Software.  Why is that important to the gaming world?  If you aren't familiar with the name of the company, id Software was formed in 1991.  They were instrumental in making the first-person shooter genre what it is today.



These guys were behind all of the old PC first-person greats such as:
-Wolfenstein
-Doom
-Quake
(and don't forget the non-fps Commander Keen!)

If you look at that list, just about every title they have made was at one point in time rather controversial.  Remember all of the negative press revolving around Doom and it's influences on kids that the media and lobbyist groups where slamming it for?

In short, one of the most influential game development companies in the history of gaming has a new game coming out.  If you have the hardware necessary to experience it, you should really do it.



Plus, it looks incredible.  End of story.
